Goodbye To Blagojevich and Hello To A New Era

Today justice was done. Former Governor Rod Blagojevich, (sounds great to say that), was removed from power this afternoon around 4:45. Then Pat Quinn was sworn in and became the 41st Governor of The Land of Lincoln. It is the end to our long state-wide nightmare, (trying to use words of Gerald Ford after Watergate). Yet, this the end of Blagojevich. He is gone and hopefully will go to prison soon. I don't have much to say, but the best of luck to Governor Quinn in trying to rebuild this state and make this state proud again. As for Blagojevich, I hope he seeks mental help in prison and I hope he can try to rebuild his life. I feel sorry though for his daughters. I am sorry that they have to see their dad fail and be humiliated. Yet, as today may be a sad day for the state, let us celebrate the beginning of a new era in Illinois!

The End of His Days

Today will be a historic day for the State of Illinois. Today, Governor Rod Blagojevich could be found guilty at the impeachment trial. Yet, today there is going to be a little surprise. After avoiding the trial since his mis-handled media blitz, Blago will now give a closing argument to the Illinois Senate around noon today. What will he say? If you seek my opinion, I am just a clueless as many of you. He could be like Nixon and just resign, thinking this could help his legacy in some way. He might think, since Nixon resigned, 10 years later, he was very respected. But Nixon resigned before he was impeached. Blago has already been impeached. What I think, is that he will most likely give a campaign speech for his innocence. But you never know with Blago. It could be a five minute speech or could turn into a whole hour and a half of true Blago campaigning filled with poetry and that other nonsense. Either way, as I said earlier this will most likely be his last day as governor. So I will take this time to say a few words to the governor: 'bleeb you' too governor. Your six years as governor and the events of the last month have shown just how little you know or care about Illinois people. We have been through too many currupt leaders, and when you came into office you said you would be a different type of politican. Why did you follow into the footsteps of George Ryan? Why did you let down the people? I hope you governor, that this state is the laughing stock of America, and it is all because of you and your curruptness and games the last month. Only you governor could have created this mess upon us. You have left this state in worst shape then you found it. We are billions in debt and our budget is still a mess. You were elected two times for you single reason: people were afraid of Republicans. But in 2010, what will happen. People will have no where to go. Republican governor currupt, Democrat governor currupt. From a political sense, you have helped republicans. The 1970s, 1980's, and 1990's, were great for this state, ran under Republicans. The people will remember this and vote republican in 2010, because of you, So in the end, I don't wish you any luck today and I hope you know your legacy will not be, childern's health care, or free CTA rides for senors, it will be this. Your impeachment. So long Blagojevich.

Blagojevich

For me when I heard that my governor was arrested it came to no surprises for me. Now more than a month later my governor, Rod Blagojevich could be taken out of power by as early as Thursday. In between these two events, I've been about telling people "I told you so" and many other things. I knew this Blagojevich was bad when he first ran for governor in 2002. Then in 2006, the respected Republican Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka ran a tough race against him. Yet, the people voted to re-elect this idiot. In 2006 we knew about Tony Rezco and his "Pay to play" policies, but the people of this state were so scarred of a Republican, because of George Ryan, that they had to re-elect a Blago. It is like the people didn't want to know about the dealings of the governor. How naive could the people be? Then a month after Blago was re-elected, his wife was to be questioned over more of her own corrupt real estate dealings. Yet, finally I have gotten what I have wanted to see now since that election: my governor impeached. It goes without thinking, that Blago will be found guilty. And truthfully, who cares whether or not this is a fair trail, who still wants Blago as governor? He has to lowest approval rating of any leader in nation right now. You find me one man, besides Roland Burris, who still wants him in power, then we can talk about a fair trail for this idiot. This brings me to a good point. The man is an idiot. He is completely delusional. Why he is in New York right now, beats the hell out of me. Let's see, this morning it was "Today", "Good Morning America", and "The View". Tonight "Larry King Live" and "Nightline". Does he really think anyone will be sympathetic towards him? Also there is the nonsense of "Senator Oprah" and that he is Ghandi, Mandella, or Dr. King. He is trying to change the subject so Diane Sawyer, Whoopi Goldberg, and Joyce Bauer won't ask him about his trial. He is making so much of this nonsense off the top of his head. But I did like one thing about his "View" appearance. When Joyce Bauer asked him about his Nixon about impression. She was begging him to say "I am not a crook." and Blago said no, but then she petted his hair like he was a dog. That whole scene was so funny. But that is besides the point. I am sure I will be writing a few more blogs on Blago this week, and of course a "Farewell Letter" to the governor, but let's see what Larry King brings up tonight and what happens tomorrow.

Inauguration Day

Today history was made. This was a truly majestic day for America. This is not a repeat of my previous post, but this is my opinion on the day. It was a good day, with some points to it, points that I would like to address. Firstly, with all due repsect Chief Justice Roberts, you should bring your notes! You are my favorite justice on the bench and you screw up in front of millions! Shame on you. Shame on Obama for also not knowing the lines. I even though the majority of the lines of the swering in. It is not "I will execute the office of president of the United States faithfully"! "Faithfully" must be before "execute the office"! Then we move into the speech. This short 18 minute speech had bang, but no true line. We know in past speechs there are usually at least one good, short line that is relevant in any generation. I did not see any such line. We have had "All we have to fear, is fear itself," and "Government is not the solution to our problems. Government is the problem," but there was no line is Obama's speech like those. There was one line that caught my eye though. Paraphrasing a bit, Obama said something like: It does not matter the size of our government, what matters is if it works. What a bunch of bull. Of course the size of government matters, what is he talking about? A government must be small and not to large. The last time America was faced with a similar situation in these modern times (past WWII), was the recession of 1978-1982. We solved that with a small, central government led by fiscal policies and leaders. Obama needs to be fiscal. This whole recession wouldn't have happend if not for the recession of 1991-1992, or the short economic downfall following 9/11. Yet, all were met by being fiscal, not having trillion doller economic plans. A large, unfiscal government during a recession and two wars are not right. This economic recession then will take longer to fix. I hope Obama learns that. Next, where is the respect for President Bush? He is still a president, the same way Carter, Bush I, and Clinton are. You would show respect to them. Show respect to this one. Whether you agree with him, show respect. I hate Carter in so many ways, but I would most likely faint if I shook his hand. This day was also had a touch of horror. Senator Kennedy having a seizur. I may be a republican, but I love the Kennedy's. I am glad to hear Mr. Kennedy is ok. In the end, I hope Obama knows that swift action on the economy is needed, but not without good overview and checking. Let it be said, no trillion doller economic stimulus should be passed and we may be a united nation, but Mr. President, you will not see me to faint like so many of your followers when you talk of higher taxes to the wealthy and big oversight on Wall Street. Democrats and Republicans will have a clear mind and will deeply look over our plans and study them to the fullest extent. I hope you, President Barack H. Obama are prepared for tough work and learning as President you must not take the easy way out. A trillion dollers should not just be passed out to the nation as a stimulus. Please work hard and never take the easy way out. It is my generation, the generation which is truly in love with you, who are at stake here.

The Inauguration and My Outlook for the Future.

Tomorrow the world will see the true beauty of America. Tomorrow we will see the first black president. This is something far greater than anyone could have imagined. For me, when Obama was elected I was crushed. The campaign of John McCain, which I deeply believed in, had ended. Obama was the devil to me. Yet, as has time has gone on, Obama is no longer the devil. He is the future of this nation for the next four or eight years. Like so many of my conservative allies, the inauguration of Obama is something that should be celebrated. This is not to say I will support Obama's policies, but I hope that he can do well and be successful and find the answers to the nation's problems. Yet, this will be a very short honeymoon for Mr. Obama. He will find soon the problems of the day to take over and he will have to begin solving these issues fast. The economy is something which even he has said will take a while to fix. But how long Mr. Obama? A year, two, three, four? If the economy is not fixing by 2012, it will be bye-bye for President Obama. The public may say they understand it will take a while, but soon double digit unemployment and deep losses on Wall Street will test the patience of the public to the breaking point. How long can the public continue hearing night after night about three digit losses in Dow and thousands more layoffs at big companies? Not long. Mr. Obama feels the answer is in regulation and a near trillion dollar economic stimulus package. That is not the answer. Remember that trillion dollar is just a stimulus package. Imagine how costly all the economic packages are over the next four years. My generation shouldn't have to pay off the debt of Mr. Obama's failed economic plans. Not to say paying off President Bush's failed economic policies as well. This is just the economy. Imagine how costly the surge in Afghanistan will be? Along with possible military conflicts in Russia, Iran, and Pakistan. I hope none of these things happen, but it looks like it could and soon. On the other hand, during the transition period, Obama seemed to be looking more and more moderate, almost conservative. Let us hope that his moderate ideals will carry on through his presidency. In the end, I wish the incoming president luck, and lots of it.
